¡á 2026 DMZ Docs WIP Showcase (Korea) Selection Committee Statement
DMZ Docs Industry has newly established the WIP (Work In Progress) Showcase to support the successful completion of documentary projects nearing their final stages and to facilitate their meetings with domestic and international sales and distributors. Despite being a newly launched open call this year, a diverse and vibrant array of projects was submitted.
This evaluation was conducted based on approximately 20-minute WIP version edited video clips submitted for ¡®theatrical screening¡¯ targeted at distributors and sales companies, along with project proposals and treatments. The selection committee comprehensively reviewed the projects for technical completion, suitability for post-production support, appeal of the subject matter and theme, social impact, originality and diversity, completion feasibility, and matching suitability.
The selected projects for the WIP Showcase have proven deep emotional resonance with their subjects based on the unique authenticity of documentaries, as well as an intense narrative tempo that transcends the screen. In particular, we focused on projects that have stably established editing and structural frameworks while having the most clear and distinct need for post-production work to add aesthetic precision.
Notably, this year, through the sponsorship of Korea University of Media Arts (KUMA), practical post-production support—such as DI (Color Grading), Sound Mixing, and DCP production—will be provided to maximize the completion quality of the works. We expect that these rough gems in the rough-cut stage, meeting the professional technical support of KUMA, will perfect the visual and auditory aura to be delivered to audiences and achieve complete refinement for theatrical release.
We hope that this support serves as a reliable driving force for creators to cross the final threshold of completion, and we sincerely cheer for the completed works to meet numerous domestic and international audiences with deep resonance.
