DMZ-POV was launched in 2019, to open a place for conversations about Asian and Korean documentaries. For its third year, it aims to provide varying programs that will deepen the study on the topography of Asian documentaries and focus on the documentary films in more diverse categories.
The audience will have the opportunity to observe the ignored history of Koreans in Japan, as known as Zainichi, in ‘Documentary Over Document: Koreans in Japan’. They will also be able to catch a glimpse of the present and the future of Asian documentary, by watching few young Asian filmmakers’ works in ‘Here, Now, Asia.’ ‘Traveler as Promeneur’ will let them question the meaning of travelling and moving in this unprecedented time of pandemic. Through these special programs, we invite the audience to not only look back on the history of documentaries, but also imagine the future of them in the coming times that we are going to live in.
‘Documentary Archive Forum: Archived Future’ will deliver the conversations on the value and importance of video records, while ‘DMZ DOCS X KOSMA Academic Forum’ and ‘Joint Forum Program with the Gyeonggi Film Commission’ suggest the way that the documentaries in modern society should walk on.
