In southern Lebanon, a single car slowly crosses the screen through desolate landscapes. The film captures the car's wordless movement on the road in long takes, capturing sensations of memory and absence within landscapes where ruins and silence intertwine. Throughout the journey without dialogue or narration, roads and villages quietly reveal their scars. The 43-minute runtime serves as a condition for contemplation that allows simultaneous and poetic reflection on Lebanon's wounds and persistence, where gradually recurring images and sounds form a meditative rhythm that leads viewers to confront inner silence.

 No Title unfolds entirely from inside a moving car, tracing routes through the ruins of southern Beirut and southern Lebanon in the aftermath of Israeli airstrikes. As the camera drifts slowly past streets flattened by bombs, we witness a city reduced to rubble. Passing scooters, trucks, adults, and children, we become participants in their unending moment of pain. 

Director Ghassan Salhab’s journey continues toward a notorious former detention camp, once used by Israel during its occupation to imprison and torture political prisoners. Here, a voice speaks the word “here” three times, as if to underscore its profound emptiness. Salhab’s response is simply to be here, to film here, to show here—an act of holding fast to the place, remaining faithful to the land, and pleading for solidarity in the face of disaster. This is the act of making catastrophe visible, an insistence on visibility through the power of the image. In its urgency, the image may be the only recourse left for those confronting the paralysis of despair.

 “Disaster ruins everything while leaving everything as it is”, wrote Maurice Blanchot. Everything. No title for such desolation.
