Returning to her family home in Daegu after four years, the filmmaker faces unresolved conflicts. Daily scenes like conversations with parents, tree pruning, and hair braiding show warmth and tension intersecting. The camera patiently captures suppressed memories and generational wounds as the filmmaker seeks understanding and healing. Within fragmentary family history, the film explores emotional labor for reconciliation, homecoming ambivalence, and documentary's witnessing role. It asks whether forgiveness is possible without acknowledgment, and whether documentation can create subjectivity amid inherited pain.

After years of living in the UK, Huiju returns to her family home in Daegu. She moves through a landscape layered with memory and conflict: her grandfather’s grave, her grandmother’s orchard, her father’s auto shop, her mother’s Buddhist temple. At the center of this web is her fraught relationship with her father, the source of wounds that have never fully healed. By choosing to place herself in front of the camera, rather than remaining behind it, director Park Huiju embodies a quiet but resolute determination to break a cycle of abuse passed down from her grandmother to her mother, and nearly to herself. 

This is Park’s second feature—following her Special Mention-winning Bitter Cells at the 16th DMZ Docs—and it is an intimate chapter from her own history. As both filmmaker and narrator, she excavates the layered meanings in her father’s words and actions, revealing a devastating irony: a man skilled at repairing broken car parts proves incapable of mending—or even acknowledging—the damage wrought by violence. The result is a deeply personal documentary that confronts generational trauma with courageous, unflinching clarity.
